The legendary mountains on fire on 18 June 2022

Every year the communities of Ehrwald, Lermoos and Biberwier celebrate a special festival. To celebrate the longest day of the year, the mountains in the valley basin of the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena are set alight every year. The "Sonnwendfeuer" or "mountain fires" ring in the summer and are a unique spectacle. This proud custom, which dates back to the Middle Ages, is now a UNSECO World Heritage Site. Every year, with the help of about 300 volunteers, the valley basin and the mountains are lit up. The event is known and loved far beyond the borders of Tyrol. So it is not surprising that all hotel rooms in the region are quickly booked up for this date.
